I am a professor in theoretical physics at the Ecole polytechnique in Palaiseau, France. More specifically I am part of the mathematical physics group of the center for theoretical physics. I was one of the 17 principal investigators of the Simons collaboration on the non-perturbative bootstrap. Right now I hold an ERC consolidator grant.
My research revolves around the bootstrap approach to quantum field theories. The central idea is to constrain physical observables starting from first principles like unitarity, analyticity, or the existence of an operator product expansion. It allows us to investigate what is possible in the space of all quantum field theories of a specific type, or with specific symmetries. During my PhD years I worked on aspects the AdS/CFT correspondence and the holographic interpretation of three-dimensional wormholes. As a postdoc I worked mostly on superconformal quantum field theories in four and six spacetime dimensions.
For my numerical work I have mostly been using Julia, Haskell and Mathematica. For proving theorems I am currently working with Lean.
